Purpose:
It is the stated goal of our Assembly of God section to
focus on birthing churches in the inner city of St. Louis.
Inner City Ministries exist to help meet this purpose. We believe the goal of birthing inner city
churches depends largely upon having interested persons from the inner city
identified and prepared to birth the Inner City Churches. Our district has everything in place but
still lacks the pool of persons who are being prepared and/or who are
prepared to birth Inner City Churches.
It is our goal to offer people from the inner city a relevant
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM that deals with the major hindrances that they face in
becoming prepared for ministry in the Assemblies of God. These hindrances would include:
Past
educational experience
Second
career entry into ministry
Family
demands
Finances
Inability
or unwillingness to leave the area to be trained
Relevant
curriculum and learning model
We firmly believe the best way to birth Churches in the
inner city is to identify, train and assist persons from neighborhoods in St.
Louis to be the birthing Pastor. If we
are to have a pool of newly trained Inner City Ministers, we must be prepared
to meet them where they are and provide them with what they need to succeed.
